The company behind the trucks

Ottawa Parging Group was started in 2016 by Mike, who had already spent more than a decade on the tools before putting his own name on a truck. It began as one crew taking on parging jobs other contractors called too small or too awkward, and grew — entirely on referrals and reviews — into a full foundation, masonry and concrete company working across the National Capital Region.

We are still a hands-on outfit. The person who quotes your job is the person running the crew that does it. That matters more than it sounds: nothing gets lost between the estimate and the work, and there is nobody to point at when a question comes up.

Why foundation work is worth being fussy about

Almost every parging failure we are called out to fix has the same cause. Someone applied a fresh coat over a wall they never properly prepared. It looked perfect in September and started letting go by April, because water got behind it, froze, expanded and pushed it straight off the concrete.

That is the whole difference between a job that lasts a decade and one that lasts a season, and it is invisible the day the work is finished. So we sound every wall before quoting, take off everything hollow or lifting, and bond to sound concrete. If the reason your parging failed is a downspout dumping water against the wall or ground sloping back toward the house, we will tell you that too — repairing the symptom and ignoring the cause just means doing it twice.

Built for the climate we actually work in

Ottawa puts foundations through roughly a hundred freeze-thaw cycles a year, then salts everything within reach of a road. Materials and methods that are perfectly adequate in a milder climate do not survive that. Our mixes, membranes, base depths and sealers are specified for this city, which is also why we will tell you honestly when it is too late in the season to pour or parge properly rather than take your money and hope.

We are fully licensed and insured, a WSIB certificate holder, accredited with the Better Business Bureau, and registered with TrustedPros — where we have been named Best of TrustedPros in 2014, 2019 and 2020. That verifiability is the point. Foundation and waterproofing work is buried the moment it is finished. You are not buying a product you can inspect — you are buying a decision about who to trust with the part of the house everything else sits on.

• A free on-site estimate, in writing, with the scope spelled out before anything starts.
• The number we quote is the number you are invoiced. If something genuinely changes, you hear it from us before we act on it.
• Honest scoping — if a crack injection will hold, we will not sell you an excavation.
• Beds and walkways protected, debris hauled away, site swept before we leave.
• Calls answered and messages returned the same working day.

Parging, concrete resurfacing, masonry and chimney repair, foundation crack repair and waterproofing, and interlock and hardscaping — residential and commercial, from a single spalled brick through to full exterior excavation.
